The escalating trend of HPV-related oropharyngeal cancer in Canada is alarming. HPV-related oropharyngeal cancer has surpassed cervical cancer as being the most prominent site for HPV-related cancer in both Canada and the U.S. This requires the attention and collaborative efforts of all relevant healthcare specialties, especially given the strong call to action recently initiated from the Office of the Chief Dental Officer of Canada. Dental hygienists have an opportunity to raise awareness and play a key role in prevention advocacy.
