Lecture Synopsis - Live Presentation:
Xerostomia or dryness of the oral cavity is now affecting 1 out of every 4 adults and has become one of the most common oral health pathologies. Advances in medicine prolonging lifespan, over 1100 drugs that are classified xerogenic, the growing use of CPAP machines, the rapid rise in diabetes, and HPV-driven head and neck cancers are among the contributing factors. The lack of saliva puts today’s patient in an extremely vulnerable state, significantly compromising their oral health, comfort, and overall well-being.. Efficient chairside assessment and treatment are imperative. We will explore the many diverse and competitively differentiated dry mouth solutions available to today’s patient. Be armed with transformative solutions to combat the silent struggle of xerostomia for so many of your patients.
Learning Outcomes:
- To understand the prevalence and etiology of xerostomia related to today’s population
- To incorporate evaluative salivary assessment into clinical practice.
- To effectively treat the xerostomic patient with innovative strategies to employ chairside and at home.
